About Us

Union County’s Youth Service Commission Mission is to engage in juvenile justice planning and priority-setting in developing new community programming for juveniles and monitoring the effectiveness of existing programs in the community for at-risk youth and youth offenders that assist clients in becoming independent, healthy and safe.

Collaborations

Based on an identified need the Union County Youth Services Commission has partnered with Proceed Inc. to provide Union County youth with a 12-week Girls Empowerment Program (Fearless Girls).

In today’s media-saturated environment, developing a healthy sense of self-worth, self-respect, and purpose may become more challenging for girls coming of age as they prepare for their futures. Girls must learn to successfully navigate peer pressure and negative messages about girlhood and womanhood to emerge from their teen years as happy and empowered young women. The Girls’ Empowerment program, Fearless Girls, provides safe space for participants to explore issues confronting them. Through interactive educational sessions, the participants will be equipped with tools and information to make positive choices and educated decisions regarding their lives. Young girls will empower themselves with their own potential to be leaders in their lives as well as in their communities. Topics include self-worth and self-esteem, healthy relationships, assertive communication, leadership, internet safety, among others.

This program is open to youth between the ages of 13-17.

There is no fee for this program. Enrollment is ongoing.
