BURLINGTON COUNTY
About Us
The Burlington County Youth Services Advisory Council (YSAC) serves as a primary advisory board related to youth at risk or involved with the Family Court, Probation or Parole.
The purpose is to:
- Identify, plan, and oversee the implementation of community-based sanctions and services for juveniles charged or adjudicated as delinquent and delinquency prevention programs.
- Monitor the implementation of the Youth Services Advisory Council Plan including program evaluations.
- Provide support and assistance to local or regional youth services commission.
Annually, the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders approves funds to maintain “Shelter Homes for Juveniles in Crisis”. Referrals to this program are primarily through the Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU). The Division also receives funds from the JJC to create JDAI (Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative) Innovation programs. The purpose of Innovation funds is to provide youth with alternatives to detention while safely reducing their population in our Juvenile Detention Center. Ultimately, Innovation programs help to keep youth at home and provide much needed support for families with youth engaged in the Juvenile Justice System.
